The R&S REI Design Process
We, at R&S, take pride in our work and right from the very beginning, we treat each project as a unique, new challenge. We start by identifying your requirements and understanding your vision. Our systematic process is built to deal with each project on a minuscule level to ensure that everything is taken care of.
We start off with a meeting at our center in Sacramento. Here, you’ll get a chance to meet our team. We’ll review and discuss the entire project thoroughly. This includes reviewing the photos, discussion of your goals, and even your budget.
We understand that you may have a lot of questions for us, so this will be a great time to get to know us better. Usually, this meeting lasts anywhere between 60-90 minutes. Click here to schedule a meeting with us.
Once we’ve discussed your requirements and goals, we’ll schedule a site visit to understand the scope of work. We’ll take a closer look at your project; this involves taking photos, investigating your attic spaces, etc.
Design or Construction Proposal
After the site visit, we’ll go through the scope of work and present a proposal for our design services. This will include the remodels of all of the parts of your property that need designing. If designing isn’t sufficient to get the work done, we’ll present a construction proposal as well.
This is the stage during which you’ll get to plan your dream project with our experts! You’ll get to decide on the space planning, layout, colors, and many other aspects of design. Our experts will also pitch in their suggestions to make the design nothing short of stellar. This is the stage during which you’ll see your dream turning into reality.
Intent for Construction
Once you’ve reviewed and approved the project design, we’ll move on to the next stage. During this stage, we’ll ask for your permission to do construction work. We’ll come up with a construction proposal for the same.
However, before doing so, we’ll need some investment from your side for the construction costs. This secures the project and design for construction within our production schedule. The fee is nearly the same as the design agreement fee.
Review of Construction Feasibility
Our team’s knowledge and years of experience help us make planned decisions during the design phase. This can include a review of code compliance. We also review the feasibility of the construction by visiting the site after the design has been approved. We ensure that we’ve got everything covered for you, right from design to the build.
If your project is situated in a jurisdiction that requires a building permit, then we’ll get that sorted out for you as well.
Typically, a permit is required when:
- There’s a change in the use of space
- Adding square footage to the property
- Making alterations in the structure
We recommend checking with your local planning department for further details about permits.
If there’s no design process involved in your project, then we’ll straightaway shift to the construction proposal. We’ll come up with a comprehensive construction proposal and invite you to review it.
This includes a detailed cost estimate of the items required for the construction so that you can review everything.
Next comes the exciting part! Once the design and construction costs have been approved, we’ll start discussing the construction itself. Based on the project’s scale and the material lead time, we’ll begin your project within a month of approval.
Construction in Progress & Schedule
During the remodeling phase, we’ll provide a detailed construction schedule (tentative) for planning everything. This helps us set a completion date for the project and each of its phases.
Our working hours are usually 8 AM to 6 PM. However, we may not be present on-site daily as there may be days when we would have to leave the construction for curing. We try our best to finish the project on schedule and will work hard to adhere to the deadlines.
Once the project is complete, we’ll meet you to go through the project one final time. This ensures that you get to see the exact work that we’ve done, and it helps us maintain transparency. After that, we’ll hand over your new space to you. We may take a few professional photos of the space for our marketing purposes. You will, of course, get a personal copy of the same.

We pride ourselves in providing the highest quality of services to our clients. That’s why we provide a complete guide book that takes you through the process of caring for and cleaning your new space. This usually contains the owner’s manual, manufacturer care, and cleaning tips.
Once the project is complete, we provide a written warranty for our work. Our goal is to ensure that you love your new space. If you face even the slightest of difficulties in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to facilitate repairing and replacement even once the warranty period is over.
